WDYFL Under 11's Girls Cup Final

Sunday 25th May 2008

Colliers Park (Gresford)

Wrexham FC Training Ground

Kick-off 2:00

Llay 0 - Mold 1

After an eventful season which was interrupted by poor weather conditions and off field problems including having to find an alternative pitch following threats to disrupt their home games, Llay Under 11's Girls team, despite being one of the youngest teams in the league, proved they were also one of the best by making it through to the Wrexham and District Under 11's girls football cup final, against a very good Mold team who had won all but one of their games ( 3 - 3 draw against Llay) during the season.

Everything was set up for a cracking final on Wrexham football clubs top quality artificial pitch, and the game did not disappoint with both teams going for the win. After some good defending by both teams the first half ended goal less.

The second half was again a close end to end affair, with Mold taking the lead through a deflected goal eight minutes from time. Llay pushed forward looking for the equaliser, but it was not to be with Mold defending strongly to hold out for a 1-0 win.

I would like to this opportunity to thank the WDYFL and Wrexham FC for organising a very enjoyable day, hopefully we will be able to sort things out for next season. As I have already said with my other commitments I do need more help with the coaching and running matches.

The Road to the Final

24th May - Panycae (Home) - Cup Semi-Final

We welcomed our freinds from Penycae, for this cup semi final.

Both teams had to content with a very hot day and some new rules including doubling the size of the pitch.

The game was very close with the larger pitch leading to few clear cut chances, however the dead lock was brock in the first half when Llay took a 1 - 0 lead with the goal coming from Lucy.

The second half was again close with Penycae pushing for an equaliser, however it was not to be with Llay finishing the match 1-0 winners

18th May - (Chirk Home) - Cup

Eventually we managed to et the game played after two false starts.

After a close first quarter Llay were loosing 0-1, but then following a change of tatics we managed to turn it round to win 6-1 with goals from Emma 2, Lucy 1, Nina 1, Kayleigh 1, Nikki 1
