After beating Marchwiel and Ruthin on the way Llay found themselves in the final at Cefn Druids against a close rivals Marford and Gresford.
Having played each other twice in the league this season with both games going Llay’s way, everything was set for a cracking final.
Llay were quickly off the marks penning Marford and Gresford in their own half for most of the first 20 minutes, with the pressure paying off after about 10 minutes when the M&G goal keeper was forced into an error of handling the ball just outside of the area. Llay took full advantage from the resulting free kick with the ball being swung into the box being meet by Jak Prytherch to put Llay 1-0 up.
Llay continued to pressure but it was M&G who started to come to life towards the end of the first half, with the Llay keeper who had had a quiet time until then forced into a good save from a long range shot.

The second half started much the same as the first with Llay pressuring M&G and this pressure again paid off when Alister Randles scored a well taken goal to make it 2-0 to Llay.
However Gresford were not to be out done as they pushed forward to try to reduce the deficit, only to be denied by some good goal keeping and defending. Which allowed Llay to hang on to win 2-0.

Congratulations to Llay and well done to both sets of players, who did their clubs proud by playing the game in the sprit it is meant to be played.
