6th December – Marford and Gresford – Away

Marford and Gresford –  Llay

29nd November – Garden Village – Home

Llay –  Garden Village

22nd November – Brickfield – Away - League Cup Round 2

Brickfield 2 – 3 Llay

Again back to winning ways in the League cup with a 3-2 win over brickfield. Again in the first half we were losing the midfield battle with most of the chances falling to Brickfield who could have scored 4 or 5. Eventually they did score with again Charlie making a good 1 on 1 save but being able to do nothing about the rebound. We did manage to bring the scores level just before half time through a perfect pass from Ben, with Luke running half the pitch to slot the ball into the bottom corner to make it 1-1. In the second half we made a few changes to strengthen midfield, which paid off after about 15 minutes of the second half gone when the ball fell to Jordan who hit it from about 25 yards out passed the keeper to give us a 2-1 lead. Most of the second half saw Llay pushing forward with a number of chances being created. With about 10 minutes to go Jordan made way for Thomas Lewis, who with his first touch made an inch perfect pass to Luke who took it forward to score our his second and Llay’s third goal. Then in the last 5 minutes Brickfield who always looked dangerous going forward managed to pull a goal back to make it 3-2, to set up a tense last couple of minutes with Llay holding on to go in to the hat for the next round. Well done both teams it was a cracking game of football to watch.

15th November – Penycae – Home - NEWFA Cup Round 2

Llay 0 – 6 Penycae

Despite having our full team back, we did not really perform to our best, with Penycae winning the midfield battle, our second half performance was much improved with a lot more use of the wings, but by pushing up in search of a goal we left or defence open, which resulted in so easy goals for Penycae, sending us out of the cup. Well done Penycae and good luck in the next round.

8th November – Whitegate – Away

Whitegate 3 – 2 Llay

We quickly conceded 2 very quick goals, which was always going to make it a hard match to win, but we managed to pull a goal back before half time through George to come off 2-1 down. The second half saw a much improved performance, with us having a lot more procession with Ben scoring the equaliser to bring the score back to 2-2. However as we were pushing for the winner we were hit on the counter attack with Charlie doing well to block the first shot but was not able to do anything about the follow up. As I said after the match we will most probably play worse this year and win.

1st November – Penycae – Away

Penycae 3 – 0 Llay

Well done to those who turned up, but with such a small squad on the day it was always going to be hard work, with a makeshift midfield the defence were put under a lot of pressure and Charlie and the defence did well to keep the score down to 3-0

25th October – Marford and Gresford – Home - League Cup

Llay 2 – 1 Marford and Gresford

Back to winning ways in our local derby, with our best team performance this season. It was as if we had an extra player in mid-field where we out battled Marford and Gresford. The weather conditions did not help the game but we managed to hold on in the first half, coming off 1-0 down at half time. The second half was all one way with the wind pegging M&G back into their own half. Resulting in 2 well taken goals by Ben and George. Everybody played well with a special mention to Charlie who's kicking was excellent.

 18th October – Marchwiel– Home

Llay 0 – 6 Marchwiel

Today saw the visit of the league leaders, who showed why they are top of the league. We didnt get going in midfield, which put a lot of pressure on the back four.

11th October – Rhosddu – Home

Llay 1 – 3 Rhosddu

Today we came up against a very well organised team, who battled for everything and deserved their win. When it was 1 -1 it could have gone anyway with chances for both teams. We need to start to play together as a team and work hard in training for each other.

Llay goal coming from Luke

27th September – Maelor Youth– Away

Maelor 2 – 3 Llay

Not the best we have played this season, but we did manage to grind out a win against a very good Maelor team whose current league position does not do them justice. Llay goals coming from Jack, George and Ben (pen)

20th September – Brymbo– Home

Llay 6 – 2 Brymbo

Another good game and another 6 goals, Great start to the match with a goal in the first two minutes, followed quickly by another 3 to lead 4-1 at half time. Again second half we looked tired but still kept on pluging away with a great 35 yard goal from Matty. The final goal can from a 70 yard kick from Charlie who had another good game in goal. Well done lads.

13th September – Coedpoeth – Away

Coedpoeth 1 – 6 Llay

What a start to the new season and our first 11-a-side game, everyone should be proud of themselves for the effort that they put in on the pitch today. Every one of you gave 100% and that was the difference between the two teams at the end of the day. Some well taken goals from Ben, Luke and Jack, as well as some tight defending at the back and a very good display of goalkeeping from Charlie who’s kicking was brilliant.
