28th February - Maelor Home
Today saw the U9s entertain Maelor U9s with an excellent round of results for both of the Llay teams.
Llay Tigers produced a 4-2 win and 9-0 wins with solid displays from all players.
Congratulations must go to Ewan Stevenson on scoring his first hatrick for the team and also Callum Walker on his first goal for the team.
Jordan Cairney won man of the match for the Tigers with another accomplished all round performance.
Llay Scorpions produced a 2-1 win and 11-1 wins with notable performances from all team members.
Will Miller, Harry Archer (glad to have him back following his rib injury last time out), Jonathan Parry, Liam Bannister, Rich Smith, Charlie Munro, Harrison Riches and Jake Hughes all played fantastic football. However man of the match went to Max Moore again displaying vision and technique.
In terms of Maelor U9s, their goalkeeper who played in the 4-2 and 2-1 defeats must be praised for an outstanding display - surely a goalie who will progress successfully within the professional game......well done!!

14th February - Brickfield Away
"At long last.....our first game of football since November 2009 due to the snow.
Both teams performed well against a club that are renowned for producing good footballing teams.
Llay Tigers had a mixed bag of results drawing the first and unfortunately losing the second.
The Tigers drew their first game with Jordan Cairney scoring two goals in the 2-2 draw. The second game got off to a bad start with Brickfield racing into a 3-0 lead within ten minutes. The Tigers steadied themselves but were unlucky not to score for the remainder of the game with the final result being 3-0.
Llay Scorpions produced some excellent attacking football and thoroughly deserved in winning both games.
The Scorpions won the first game 2-1, after conceding an early goal, with Max Moore scoring two excellent goals. The second half of this game saw the team settle into their passing game and again had it not been for the goalkeeper the score could have been higher.
The second game started as the first, conceding an early goal, but they quickly drew level and continued to dominate through an excellent passing game. The final score was 4-1 with Will Miller and Max Moore each scoring a brace.
The Man of the Match for the Tigers was a difficult choice with all seven players playing a fantastic team game but Liam Bannister edged it for a gritty defensive performance.....well done!
The team thoughts go to Harry Archer who had to miss the second game due to an injury which ended up with a hospital visit. Hopefully the bruised ribs will clear up quickly as a player of Harry's quality will be missed."

15th November - Garden Village Away
The team’s passing has improved incredibly which showed with the Scorpions controlling both games. All players worked hard for each other with Jonathan Parry winning the MOM for a solid defensive display. George Randles played his first game in goal for the Scorpions and produced a commanding performance, certainly not afraid to tell his defenders what to do! Well done Scorpions!!
Match 1 – won 4-0 with Max Moore scoring three and Rich Smith one
Match 2 – won 2-0 with Max Moore and Ewan Stevenson scoring one each
Llay Tigers:
Unfortunately due to illness the Tigers were without a natural goalkeeper but great credit to all of the players for taking it in turn. A mixed bag of results in which they lost the first game 2-1, a game that could have easily been a win, but rallied for the second winning 3-1. Aiden Fox won the MOM for a great defensive and midfield display. Once again a great day’s football, well done Tigers!!
Match 1 – lost 2-1 with Will Miller scoring
Match 2 – won 3-1 with Will Miller scoring two and Aiden Fox one

4th October - Cefn United Home
Excellent team performance today from both teams, especially as last year Cefn United out scored us.
Llay Scorpions once again showed that once they got their passing game going they will be a force to be reckoned with after running out 6 - 0 winners in game one. The second game was much harder drawing 1 - 1 but once again the goal keeper performed miracles in goal, without this we would have hit 6 or 7.
Llay Tigers have now realised that passing and moving will win games. They won both games 3 - 0 and 5 - 2.
The MOM awards went to Max Moore (Llay Scorpions) and Jake Hughes (Llay Tigers) both thoroughly deserved.
Llay Scorpions scorers were:
Game 1: Max Moore - 3, Rich Smith - 2, Harry Archer - 1
Game 2: Max Moore – 1

20th September - Brymbo Away
Llay Tigers:
Drew 1-1 - Scorers: Jordan Cairney
Lost 1-0 -
Man of the Match: Aiden Fox
Llay Scorpions:
Won 6-1 - Scorers: Max Moore(3) Harry Archer(2) Rich Smith(1)
Won 4-1 - Scorers: Max Moore(2) Jonathan Parry(1) Harry Archer(1)
Man of the Match: Rich Smith
For the first game of the season not a bad start but both teams guilty of not passing and moving.
The Tigers had the majority of the ball in both games but were unable to convert their chances. The signs are there that once the players get used to one another the results will turn.
The Scorpions again started off slow and as individuals and were shocked to go 1-0 down but this spurred them into life with all players passing and moving into space and running out comfortable winners. The second game saw excellent understanding and had it not been for an inspired goalkeeping performance from the home goalie the score could have reached double figures.
