9th March 2013 – Rhosddu (Away)
Today saw us travel to a new ground this season behind Rhosddu school, with the game proving to be one of the best tests this season.
Dave’s team in our first game both teams started off playing good passing football and it was Llay who took the lead through a goal from Lewis. However we could not hold on to the lead and we found ourselves 1-2 down at half time. With one of the best keepers we have played against this season in goal we change our tactics for the second half, aiming to get balls into the box for close range shots and this paid off when a shot from jack H was deflected into the net to make it 2-2. Then good work from Jake H lead to 2 goals from Jake P to give Llay a 4-2 wins.
After leaving a pitch with one of the best keepers in our second game we played against some of the better players, with both teams cancelling each other out, with did manage to break the dead lock with Jack H grabbing our goal to make it 1-0 at half time. In the second half we pushed for a second with Jake hitting the post three time, but with everyone pushing forward we were caught out by a long ball over the top with the Rhosddu No 10 giving Dylan no chance. George had a good chance in the dying minutes put just put it wide.
Richard’s and Darren’s team once again we did not get going finding ourselves 0-4 down at half time, but it was a game of two half’s and the second half saw Llay pull back 2 goals through Jack Williams and Ewan, however it was not enough wit Rhosddu winning 2-4. In our second game we had chance after chance but once again the Rhosddu keeper held firm. We did managed to grab a goal through Sam but it was not enough and we lost the match 1-3
Man of the Match went to Jack P and Sam |
2nd March 2013 – Rhos (Home)
After a week off it was nice to be back on our home pitches and it was also a welcome return to the sunshine and winning ways.
Dave’s team – after putting in a lot of practice in training on two touch finishing, we quickly put our training into action as we found ourselves 3-0 up within 3 minutes. With two goals from George and one from Jack H. By half time we found ourselves 8-0 up with Jack H netting a further 3, with Jake P and Dafydd joining the scoring. We started the second half in much the same way with Lewis grabbing his first and our 9th. Before we were caught flat footed at the back to gift Rhos a goal, once again we pushed forward to make it 13-1 with George getting his second and third, Jack H getting his fifth and Dylan S joining the scoring. However it was Rhos who had the final say making it 13-2.
Our second game was much like the first with plenty of goals, but more pleasing we managed to keep our 8th clean sheet of the year. Jake H started the scoring off with Dylan S and Jack P making it 3-0 at half time. We scored a further 5 goals in the second half with the goals coming from George, jack H, Dafydd, Lewis and George to make it 8-0
Richard and Darren’s Team – Our first match was a bit of a tough match with play being stopped a number of time for fouls to our team. A hard challenge to Gareth saw him have to take a break from play, but when he went back on he managed to break the deadlock to make it 1-0, however we couldn’t hold on with the match finishing 1-1.
Our second match saw us taking an early lead with Owen grabbing the goal, however once again we let Rhos back in to the game with a goal just before half time. But late in the second half Gareth popped up with his second goal of the game to make it 2-1

23rd February 2013 – Penycae (Away)
Posponed due to frozen pitch !!

16th February 2013 – Marford and Gresford (Away)
This week saw us make the short trip to Gresford, with wet weather during the week the pitches were playable but very soft. As usual the Gresford pitches were very long but thin something we have never managed to get to grips with as a tight pitch does not suit our style of football.
Dave’s team in our first match we had plenty of the ball but could not find the breakthrough, with 10 minutes gone in the first half Dylan made a good save but was caught in the chest by the forward following in. With our keeper still shaken our defence failed to close down and a long shot found the back of the net to make it 0-1. In the second half we again had more than our fair share of the play and with 5 minutes gone good work down the right by Jack H found Jake in front of goal to make it 1-1. However as we pushed for the winner we were caught out by a long ball with Gresford grabbing a 2-1 win. Our second game was much the same as the first with us getting caught out once more by the long ball to make it 0-1 at half time. Straight from the kick off we once again failed to close down allowing the Gresford forward to break through without a challenge to make it 0-2.
Richard’s / Darren’s team – In our first match we once again failed to start and quickly found ourselves 0-4 down at half time. We did get going in the second half but it was too late to salvage anything from the match with Gresford winning 0-5. Our second match was a much closer affair with Llay controlling much of the game, but once again we were caught out at the back with Gresford winning the match 0-2

9th February 2013 – Brymbo (Home)
After week of good weather on Saturday mornings the rain finally caught up with us. After heavy rain over night we arrived at a very wet Alyn Waters and a Quick pitch inspection showed that our bottom pitch was under an inch of water and the top pitch was very wet. With a big day planned we made a make shift pitch on the under 9’s pitches and set up in the rain.
Dave’s team – we started where we left off at Cefn with goals galore, after working on a passing practice in training on Thursday night our passing was first class on a very wet pitch and it was not long before Jack H put us 1-0 up, this was quickly followed by a goal from Jake and then a second for Jack H, Brymbo managed to pull 1 back to make it 3-1 at half time. In the second half it was Jake again who made it 4-1, with George popping up at the near post from a corner to make it 5. Jack H then got his 3 and forth goal of the match either side of goals from George and Lewis to make it a 9-1 win.
Our second game was a lot tougher but we did manage to take the lead with a well taken goal from Jake followed by a second from George. Brymbo then pulled one back to make it 2-1 at half time. Jack P extended our lead to make it 3-1, but with the arrival of our special guest distracting our players and coaches, we were caught twice on the break by Brymbo to make it 3-3
Richard / Darren’s Team – With our usual pitch out of action we faced the challenge of a bigger pitch and a bit of a slope, our first game was a very tight game with both teams having chances but it was Llay who made the breakthrough when Jack Williams steered a corner past the Brymbo Keeper. However we could not hold on to our lead with Brymbo pulling one back in the second half with the match finishing 1-1. In our second game the conditions and big pitch took its toll with brymbo running out 2-4 winners with the Llay goals coming from Gareth and Callum
Man of the match presented by Liverpool legend Ian Rush went to Jack H and Jack Williams |
2nd February 2013 – Cefn (Away)
After two weeks off due to the snow, we made the trip to Cefn, with a few of our team finding it hard to find the ground and arriving a minute before kick-off
Dave’s Team – We did not make our usual start and quickly found ourselves 0-2 down after 5 minutes, with Cefn winning the mid-field battle on a very tight pitch. This spurred us on and we quickly found ourselves back in the game at 2-2 with goals from George and Jake P. Then just before half time a low shot from Jack H found its way under the keeper to make it 3-2 and a lot easier half time talk. It the second half we played the better football leading to 3 goals The first came from George with his shot going in off the post, then Lewis’s corner was turned in to his own net by one of the Cefn defenders before George made it 6-2. There was still time for Cefn to get one back to make in 6-3. After a quick change of pitches we started where we left off, with a 6-0 win with our goals coming from Jack P x 2, Jack H x 2, Warren and Dylan
Richards Team – Our first matched had everything from shots hitting the post and cross bar, to good saves from both keepers and an exploding ball. Llay took a 1-0 lead through another own goal from a corner, however this did not prove enough and Cefn pulled one back in the second half for the match to end 1-1. In our second match we once again took the lead through a well taken goal by Gareth but we could not hang onto this lead with Cefn winning the match 1-2
Man of the Match went to Jack Parry and Owen Evans.

19th January 2013 – Coedpoeth (Away)
Match cancelled due to snow |
12th January 2013 – Kinnerton (Home)
After what’s seems like a life time of no football, with the weather in our favour we welcomed Kinnerton to Alyn Waters.
Dave’s Team – Our first match was a very close affair which Llay creating plenty of good chances, but a good Kinnerton defence held firm with the match ending in an 0-0 draw. In our second match we got or passing game going in mid-field and things were back to normal when after a scrabble in the box the ball fell to George who put it away to make it 1-0, our second goal came from a good pass out to the wing by George where he found Jack H in space. He attacked the box and put a perfect pass to George to score our second. Our third and George’s hat trick came from a long throw from Jake which found George who stroked the ball into the back of the net. We were still not finished scoring with Jack H and Jake getting one apiece to make it a 5-0 win.
Richard’s Team – After a hard fought first half which saw Llay going 1-0 after the ball fell to Owen D on the edge of the box which he hit first time, straight into the net only to see our lead taken away from us to make it 1-1. In the second half we regained our lead when Gareth found space in midfield, carrying the ball forward himself and putting it into the bottom corner.
In our second game we did not get going and despite creating some chances we were unable to score. Kinnerton won the midfield battle with the game ending 0-2
Man of the Match went to Dafydd and Jack Bates

8th December 2012 – Borras Park Albion (Away)
After two weeks off it was good to be back out on the pitch and in the sun after all of the rain, for our trip to Borras one of the top teams in our age groups.
Dave’s team – in our first match we got off to a good start going 1-0 up after 8 minutes when James placed a well struck corner into the box for Dylan S to drive the ball into the back of the net. However we did not manage to hold onto our lead and with 4 minutes to go until half time a long ball over our defence fell to the Borras number 10 to put the ball into the net. The second half went the way of the first with us not managing to breakdown the three man defensive wall and it was another corner from James which was deflected in that gave us a 2-1 lead. But once again we could not hang onto our lead and a scramble in front of our goal lead to the Borras equaliser.
Our second game was the complete opposite to our first with more space to work in we started to get our passing game going, Jake did an excellent job in midfield cancelling out the threat of the Borras No 8. and it was Jake who opened the scoring when the ball fell to him on the edge of the box which he hit well into the side corner. We then made it 2-0 when Jack P force his way through a crowded area to put the ball through the keepers legs. We then made it three just before half time when Jack H found himself in space in the box to make it 3-0 at half time. The second half went the way of the first with Jack H making it 4-0 after a scrabble in the box. We then gave Borras a glimmer of hope when we deflected the ball into our own net to make it 4-1, before Lewis received the ball wide out on the Left and drove into the box to making it 5-1.
Richards Team – in our first game it looked like the two weeks off had not done us and good, as we failed to get going especially in mid field where the Borras No 8 was running the show. We did manage to keep it close up to halftime but three goals for Borras in as many minutes put the game out of site with Borras running out 5-0 winners.
In our second game we did manage to get going and we were getting back to our normal selves, with a lot more battling in midfield. However it was Borras who took the lead, but this time we battled on and our efforts were rewarded with a goal when the ball fell to Gareth who struck the ball into the net to make it 1-1 and that is how it stayed.

17th November 2012 - Ruthin (Home)
Yet another sunny Saturday morning saw us entertain Ruthin, in what turned out to be an excellent display of grassroots football.
Dave’s Team In our first match we took an early set back when Ruthin took a 0-1 lead after just 2 minutes, with both teams playing good football we had a number of chances but could not found the net. Then with a couple of minutes to go before half time the ball fell to George who’s shot bounced over the Ruthin Keeper to make it 1-1. That is how it stayed with the midfield form both of the teams battling out a goalless second half.
In our second game we were much more in control and when the ball fell to James on the edge of the box he hit it straight into the net to make it 1-0, this was followed by a second when Lewis found himself in space in the box and managed to guide the ball home from about 6 yards, and that is how it stayed with Llay winning 2-0.
Richards Team – Again we made a slow start and quickly found ourselves 3-0 down within 12 minutes with Ruthin dominating in mid-field. There was a ray of hope in the second half when in the first minute Gareth scored to make it 1-3. However despite a much better performance in the second half that it how it stayed.
Our second game was a great match with Llay taking a 1-0 lead with Gareth scoring following great work from Callum and Cain, it was then Ruthin’s turn to score and the quickly made it 1-2. We were still not beaten and it was Ewan who popped up with a goal to make it 2-2, in the second half Ruthin again took the lead to make it 2-3, before with 5 minutes to go Llay won a corner which Owen drove into the box, with the ball taking a deflection off a Ruthin player into the net to make it 3-3
Man of the Match went to James and Owen Evans |
10th November 2012 – Rhosddu (Home)
Another sunny Saturday at Alyn Waters and we welcomed Rhosddu to their first visit to Alyn Waters.
Dave’s teams, in our first match we played what appeared to be the stronger of the two Rhosddu sides with both teams playing good football and both keepers being called on to make some good saves, despite all of the good play the sides cancelled each other out in all areas of the park. However it was Llay who made the breakthrough with the ball falling to George who put us 1-0 up. Then Rhosddu won a corner on the left which was well struck into a crowded box which resulted in the ball flying into the net to make it 1-1.
The second match was a bit more comfortable with Llay and in particular George up front having a lot more space and if it was not for some great saves from the keeper it could have been a lot bigger score line at half time than the 1-0 lead that Llay held through a goal from George after Lewis battled his way through a crowded box. After two minutes of the second half George doubled the lead and then 2 minutes latter Lewis made it 3-0 before with three minutes left James smashed in a goal to make it 4-0.
Richards team – In our first game both sides played some great football, but at half time the sides were still tied at 0-0, then with 3 minutes of the second half gone Callum poped up to put Llay 1-0 up and despite chances at both ends that is how it stayed. In our second game it was much the same with both teams battling it out in midfield. But this time it was Rhosddu who took the lead with a long shot off the left which David lost in the sun, with the ball dropping over him into the net. Then with 4 minutes left in the game Owen smashed the ball into the roof of the net to make it 1-1 which is how the game ended.
Everything is not set for a cracking game when we travel to Rhosddu in the new year
Man of the Match went to Jack Parry and Jack Williams

3rd November 2012 – Rhos (Away)
On a surprisingly mild day we travelled to Rhos with almost our full squad of players, unfortunately we had to delay the kick off until Rhos managed to get 7 a side, which meant that we had a lot of substitutes on the side lines.
Dave’s team – Our first game started with lots of chances but we did not seem to be able to get our first goal. Eventually Lewis did find the net, however almost straight from the kick off we did not clear from the back which allowed Rhos to pull level. It was then when the Jacks took over with Jack H scoring 3 and Jack p one, Geraint then hit a long shot that found its way into the top of the net. Rhos were still not beaten and the managed to score 2 long range goals which Dylan could do nothing about. Then just before the final whistle jack H got his fourth to make it 7-1.
Our second match was much the same as our first with us getting plenty of chances in front of goal, This time it was Lewis who got his hat trick with George x 2 and jack H the other goals to make it 6-1
Richards Team – In our first game we did everything but score, with a lot of procession and plenty of chances. We did manage to take the lead through a goal from Ewan but unfortunately we were unable to hold on and the game finished 1-1. In our second game we made more of our chances with Callum 2, Gareth and Jack Williams grabbing the goals for Llay to make it a 4-0 win.
Man of the Match went to Jack h and Callum

27th October 2012 – Penycae (Home)
Another sunny but cold Saturday Morning at Alyn Waters where we welcomed our visitors Penycae for what is always a good tie.
Richards team – In our first game we took the lead when the ball fell to Jack Williams on the edge of the box who struck the ball into the net. However we could not hold on to the lead and when Penycae were awarded a free kick just outside of the box, we were slow to close down the side pass which resulted in the ball being struck past David into our net. In the second half it was Llay who struck again with the Penycae keeper not being able to hold the shot from Owen and the loose ball fell to Callum who made it 2-1. But Penycae were not going to lie down and they made it 2-2 from a corner. Then with 10 seconds left on the watch another corner fell kindly for them and the ball was hit well to make it 2-3 to Penycae.
Our second game was a very close affair with both teams having chance, with David in goal called on to make some good saves, but despite chances at both ends in the second half the game finish 0 – 0.
Dave’s team – In our first match we took the lead when George found himself in himself in space on the right and put the perfect cross in, which Lewis headed in to the back of the net. In the second half it Penycae won a corner on the left which was floated in and headed towards goal, Dylan got a hand to it but could not stop the ball going into the net. With about 3 minutes remaining another good cross from George found Jack H in space who slotted the ball into the bottom corner.
Our second game was another close affair, with Penycae scoring the first goal with a long ball cutting out our midfield and defence, Dylan came out to challenge and managed to get a hand to the shot but was again unable to keep out the shot. Then a minute before half time a good pass found Dylan on the left who made it 1-1. In the second half another good pass from jack Parry from Dylan S again in space to make it 2-1, whci is how it stayed to give us 2 wins and a draw
Man of the match – Dylan S and Owen Evans

20th October 2012 – Marford and Gresford (Home)
Another sunny Saturday morning saw our first local derby of the season against Gresford.
Dave’s team – In our first game we got off to a great start when we won a corner with 2 minutes gone, the corner was driven in by Jack P which took a deflection off a Gresford player in to the net to put us 1-0 up. Despite chances at both ends and some great saves from Dylan in Goal that is how it remained until 8 minutes where two defenders went to tackle one man allowing him to push the ball through to have a 1 v1 with the keeper and slot the ball home to make it 1 – 1. The second half saw more end to end action with Dylan again being called into action to keep us in the game. Then with 7 minutes of the second half a throw ball found Lewis in space who made the most of the space he made to slot the ball home to make it 2-1, which is how the match finished.
Our second game started much in the same way as our first with Dylan called on to keep us in the match and it was Lewis again who found himself in space to make it 1-0 at half time. The second half saw a complete change in the match with Llay scoring 5 goals, the first came from a great pass from George to Lewis to make it 2-0, Good work from Jack H saw the ball fall to that man Lewis to score his hat-trick and 3-0. A long throw from Jack P then fell to George to make it 4-0, another ball through from George found Jack H who made it 5-0. Dylan then pulled off a string of saves, but from a Gresford corner a headed ball finally found its way into our net to make it 5-1. We were not finished and a long pass found Dylan S in space on the Left who drove the ball into the net to make it 6 – 1.
Richards team – Today we were without our Goalkeeper Peter who was on family duty in Scotland so we had a number of stand in keepers today. After 2 minutes it was Gresford who took the lead, then after 10 minutes we failed to clear a ball from defence and Gresford made it 0-2. We did not get going in the centre of the park today leaving large gaps between our forwards and defence which allowed Gresford to make it 0 – 4. There was a glimmer of hope for us when Ewan drove the ball into the net to make it 1 – 4.
Our second game was much the same as the first with our standing keeper Jack Williams pulling off a string of saves to keep us in the game. But again we allowed them to much space in mid-field which resulted in a 0 – 3 defeat.
Man of the match today went to the keepers Dylan A and Jack Williams

13th –October – Brymbo Away
Today we faced a tough tests against a well organised Brymbo team at an almost sunny Cheshire View.
Dave’s team we had a few players missing with Dylan and Jake not available and we made it hard going in our first game on a heavy pitch. With 8 minutes gone we gifted Brymbo the lead when we scored an own goal with a heavy back pass beating our standing goalkeeper Lewis. We then started playing and on 10 minutes we pulled back level with a gaol from Jack H. In the second half we looked more like the team we can be and with 5 minutes gone Jack H scored his second followed by a third from Jack P. Brymbo managed to pull back a goal to make it 3-2.
In our second game we came up against the stronger of the two Brymbo teams, in a game very evenly matched both teams created chances but it was Brymbo who took the lead after 5 minutes, then 2 minutes later we pulled level through a goal from George . Brymbo then went 2-1 up before Jack H made it 2-2. In the last 5 minutes there were chances at both ends but it was Brymbo who grabbed the winner to make in 2-3.
Richards team – With only one change from last week with Ben coming in for Owen, despite battling through both games we came away with two defeats, in our first game we went 2-0 down with Brymbo passing the ball around well, a long goalkick from Peter fell to Ewan who slotted the ball in to the net to make it 1-2 which is how it stayed.
Our second game went much the same way with Brymbo tacking a 2-0 lead before a corner fell to Owen who made it 1-2, in the second half we conceded 2 more goals with Callum pulling a goal back to make it 2-4.
Man of the Match went to Lewis and Ewan

6th –October - Cefn Home
Another lovely sunny Saturday morning and another great set of results with 4 wins out of 4
Today we welcomed Cefn united, who brought plenty of players. With allowed everyone to have plenty of football.
Dave's team - In our first match was a very close game with both teams playing good football, however it was Llay who took the lead in the 8th minute where a corner from the right was only half cleared as far as George who blaster the ball into the net. This was followed shortly after by another corner which once again fell to George to make it 2-0. Our third goal again came from a corner with this time the ball falling to Dylan S to slot home our third goal. In the second half Cefn pulled back a goal when their keeper received back a short goal kick and played a long ball which lead to their goal to make it 3-1. Then George scored his third to secure a 4-1 win.
We started our second game in much the same way as our first with George giving us the lead after 4 minute, however we quickly found ourselves level again after a mix up at the back. We then regained our lead with goals from Jack H and that man again George. Before Cefn pulled back a late goal to make it 3-2
Richards Team – In our first match we found ourselves 0-1 after 5 minutes of the first half, however once we got our passing game going we drew level after 10 minutes when Sam blasted home our first goal, closely followed 3 minutes later with a goal from Cain. Our third goal came after 7 minutes of the second half through Gareth, with the game ending 3-1
Our second game was a close hotly contested game with both teams giving their all, 2 minutes into the second half a foal on Callum resulted in a free kick which found its way in to the back of the net with Owen getting the final touch to make it 1-0 to Llay, despite chances at both ends this is how it stayed.
Some great football today,

29th –September - Chirk Away
On a lovely sunny morning we made the trip to Chirk, where a few weeks ago we lost in the semi-final of their tournament.
Today we came up against two strong 7 a side teams.
Dave's team - In our first match we struggled to get going on a smaller than usual pitch and found ourselves 0-2. With the instructions going out to play the wings instead of a very tight centre of the pitch we though back to make it 2-2 at half time. In the second half we again concentrated on playing passing football which played off as we won 8-2 with goals coming from Jack H 3, George 2, Lewis 2, Dylan, Jake
In our second match we again concentrated on playing football as Chirk opted for the Long ball from their keepers hands and once again this paid off with a 6 - 2 win with goals from Lewis 2 and Jack H 4
Richard's team - In their first match we struggled to cope with the Long ball coming off the keeper with the Chirk forward scoring a number of goals, our only glimmer of hope came from a long ball this time from Peter who scored direct from a goal kick out of his hands.
The second game was a lot closer with both teams battling it out in midfield, Llay took the lead with a goal from Cain, but we were unable to hold on to the lead with the match finishing 1-1

22nd –September - Coedpoeth Home
After Coedpoeth having a good turn out the following week we had expected to play our full teams, but a heavy down poor on Thursday night wiped out their traning session which meant that they could only feild 12 players on the day. This meant that we had to play 6 a side for the second week, which meant three subs per team.
Learning from the week before we kept to our two normal teams and this paid off with Llay scoring 38 goals to 3
Daves team
10-0 - Jack H 2, Jake 2, George 2, James 2, Dylan S 2
9-1 - Jake 2, Jake 2, Dylan S 2, James 2, George
Richard's team
6-1 - Owen 2, Gareth 2, Jack W, Cain
13-0 - Owen 6, Gareth 3, Jack, Jack W, Sam, Cain
Man of the Match - Jake, Owen |
15th –September - Kinnerton Away
Due to Kinnerton not having enough players to play 7 a side, we split back into our teams from last season, which in hindsight might not have been the best as it upset our way of playing with the players having to get use to new tactics once again, with the large 7/8 a side not helping with the 6 a side set up. In the matches Dave's team Won one and Lost one, Darren's team also won one and lost one, with Richards team which was the most changed losing both their matches
Man of the Match - Jack H, Jack W
|
8th –September - Borras PA Home
After the long summer break we started the new season with a home game against Borras PA, after the loss of Kev at the end of last season we reorganised our teams to have just two teams for the 2012-13 season. As usual Borras brought a strong team, which lead to for very close games Dave team drew their two game fought back from 3-0 down to draw 3-3 in their first game, while in their second they were winning 2-0 before Borras fought back to make it 2-2
Richards team were unlucky in both of their game narrowly going down 1-2 in both.

2011/12 Match Reports |
|
22nd April – Marford and Gresford (Away)
Today was very much a learning match with the teams moving over to our bigger 60 x 40 pitches from our old 40 x 30 pitches, in preparation for next season. With 5 players missing it was also an opportunity to mix-up the teams and have a look at a few options for next season.
The bigger pitches and change of players seamed to take its toll in our first matches with both teams struggling to find their usual passing game, with midfield struggling the most to manage to cover the distance between defence and attack. With Gresford winning both of the first matches 1-0.
The second set of matches saw both teams starting to find their feet on the bigger pitches, however it was Gresford who took the early lead on both pitches with in the first couple of minutes of the games starting. Richard’s team then brought their game back level with Gareth grabbing the goal. However they could not capitalize on the goal against the stronger Gresford team and despite some great defending and saves from peter in goal Gresford made it 2-1 which is how the match ended.
In Dave’s team second game we managed to recover from the early goal to go 3-1 with some great goals from Dylan S, George and Jack H. However it was not all one way traffic with Dylan making some great saves in goal to keep Llay in the driving seat. However with two minutes to go Gresford grabbed a second goal to make it a tense last two minutes, with Llay hanging on for the win.
Man of the Match went to Jake H and Owen

1st April – Brymbo (Home)
After two weeks off due to our opposition not having enough players to play the fixture, we welcomed Brymbo for their second visit of the year to Alyn Waters.
Kev’s team made a great start quickly going 2-0 up, but a strong Brymbo side made it very difficult and soon found their feet and started to play a good passing game. Despite Llay scoring a third it was not enough to secure the win with the match finishing 3-3 with the Llay goals coming from Dylan 2 and Toby. In the second match Kev’s team did find the win they were looking for running out 4-1 winners with goals from Cain 3 and Toby
Dave’s team had two very close matches, in the first game we won 3-1 with ur goals coming from George 2 and Lewis. The second game was a very close game with Dylan having to make a string of close range saves to keep a clean sheet, with 2 more goals from the birthday boy George securing a 2-0 win
Man of the match went to Dylan and Toby
|
11th March – Ruthin (Away)
An early start saw Kev’s and Dave’s team travel to Ruthin, with our home fixture finishing 3 wins and 1 draw in favour of Ruthin we were out for revenge.
Kev’s team made a bright start in their first match winning 5-2 with goals from Toby 2, Dylan 2 and Cain. This was followed by a win of the same score in their second game with the Llay goals coming from Toby 2, Sam, Dylan and Cain
Dave’s first match started well with Llay having all the possession and lots of goal mouth action but it was Ruthin who took the lead before Lewis equalled for Llay, Ruthin again took the lead to make it 2-1 with George again drawing the scores level. A wonder shot from half way then made it 2-3 to Ruthin and with only a minute left it was to much for Llay to pull it back. In the second game Llay were back to winning ways with a hatrick from Lewis securing a 3-1 win.
Man of the match went to Geraint and Peter
|
4th March – Penycae (Home)
Today saw the turn of Richard’s and Dave’s team to take on Penycae, the away fixture saw Penycae win 2 matches and draw one with Llay coming away with only one win and a draw.
The first set of matches got under way and Llay were quickly took the upper hand in both games, with Dave’s team winning 5-0 with goals from Lewis 2, Jack Parry 2 and George. Richard’s team went one better winning their match 6-0 with goals from Gareth 2, Callum 2, Toby 1 and Ewan 1.
I don’t know what the Penycae team talk was between the matches but it did the trick with Penycae coming back strong in the second set of matches. Dave’s team never really recovered from a long delay when there was a pitch invasion by a dog which stopped the game for 5 minutes with Llay 2-1 up. Once the game restarted we had lost our shape and Penycae grabbed the equaliser the Llay goals came from Jake and George
Richards second match was also a very close game with penycae edging the match 1-2 with Ewan getting the Llay goal.
|
26th February – Rhos (Away)
What a difference a week makes on a lovely sunny March morning, we made the trip to Grango School for our match against Rhos.
In the first set of matches Kev’s team played the stroner of the two Rhos teams in a close game which finished 4-3 to Llay with the Llay goal scores Cain 3 and Dylan 1. In Kev’s second match we had much more of our own way running out 8-1 winners with the Llay goals coming from James 3, Jack Baines 2, Peter 2 and Sam
Richards team made a great start in their first match running out 9-1 winners with goals from Gareth 3, Jake 2, Callum 3 and Owen 1. In their second game they faced a tougher opposition and were un-lucky to loose the match 4-5, with the Llay goals coming from Gareth 2, Jake and Ewan.
Man of the match went to James and Callum
|
5th February – Chirk (Away)
Again after a frosty night an early pitch inspection was called and Chirk called through at 9:15 to say that the pitch was hard but playable, so game on.
With Chirk appearing to field an A and B team both Llay teams managed a win and a defeat each.
In the first set of matches Kev’s team Lost 6-1 with the llay goal coming from Toby, at the same time Richards team recorded a 6-4 win with goals coming from on lone Lewis 3, Owen 2 and Ewan 1.
In the second set of games the tables were turned with Kev’s team managing a 1-0 win with the goal coming from Cain, where Richards team slipped to a 8-2 defeat with the Llay goals again coming from the on loan Lewis and Callum
Man of the match went to Peter and Ben

29th January – Borras PA (Away)
Due to Borras under 8’s being at home on the same day, we were down for the early kick-off, however with a frost over night when we arrived there was some doubt that the game would be on. But after a pitch inspection and with the sun out we decided to give it a go.
In our first matches Dave’s team struggled to play their usual passing game, on some very long pitches and it was Borras who took a 1-0 lead. We then managed to claw a Goal back through Jake Fox after some good movement. Despite plenty of chances in front of goal we were unable to score a second and with a couple of minutes to go Borras grabbed the winner.
Kev’s teams first match was another close affair with chances at both ends. Toby opened the scoring for Llay with Borras quickly pulling the scores level. The match was settled in the dying minutes when Sam took a corner which when straight into the top of the net to give Llay a 2-1 win. Kev’s teams second match was again end to end with both teams creating plenty of chances and at the end the match finished 2-2 with Toby grabbing the two Llay Goals.
In Dave’s team second match we got back to winning ways, we quickly got off the mark with a well taken goal by Jack H, George then scored a hatrick to add another 3 goals with Jack P adding the fifth. However we did not have it all our own way with Borras mounting a three goal comeback in the second half to make it a close 5-3 victory to Llay.

22nd January - Garden Village (Home)
What a day for the weather, after loosing our game the previous week due to a frozen pitch, everything looked OK for our home game against Garden Village, but on arriving at the pitch we found that we could hardly stand never mind put up the goals, but a quick change of pitches meant that we could get the game on.
In the first set of games both of our teams got off to a good start with Richards team winning 3-0 with goals from Gareth, Ewan and Toby. Dave’s team went off like a train with three goals in as many minutes with Jack Parry quickly hitting his hatrick. We managed a further 4 goals with garden village scoring a consolation goal. The Llay goal scores were Jack P 3, Jack H 2, Lewis and Jake
With the wind still blowing a gale we started our second set of matches with both teams coming out on top. Richards team found it a lot harder going but managed to secure a 1-0 with the winning goal coming from Owen. Dave’s team again managed a high score running away 8-0 winners with Lewis grabbing 6 goals in the second half, with Harry and Jack P adding one each.
Man of the match went to Jack Parry and Owen

11th December Brickfeild (Home)
Another Sunday and more bad weather, after a cold start on Saturday morning we woke up to a warmer over cast day, but at 9:00 when we started to set-up the pitches the heavens opened and continued to open for the next 3 hours. To their credit all teams tried to play good football in very difficult condition and by the end every player was covered in bud and dripping wet.
In the first match Brickfield proved to strong for Richards team running out 0-2 winners, with Llay unable to find their scoring boots in the mud. Dave’s team faired slightly better winning their match 2-0 with goals from Jack P and Toby.
With the rain still pouring down we agreed with brickfield to play two 10 minute halves in the second set of matches, Richards team again failed to find their scoring boots with brickfield winning again winning 0-2. Dave’s second match was very entertaining affair with chances coming at both ends. Llay broke the dead lock with a good strike from Jake before half time. In the second half a change of tactics saw Brickfield pulling in level, before Lewis and another wonder goal from Jake saw Llay win 3-1
Man of the match went to Jake Fox and Ben Prince
|
4th December Kinnerton (Away)
On a bad day for football, we travelled to Kinerton both teams had to deal with a heavy pitch and strong rain and rain.
A strong kinnerton team managed to deal with the conditions the best winning all four matches with the three Llay goals coming from Gareth x 2 and Callum.
Man of the Match went to Owen and Peter |
27th November llangollen (Away)
A change of venue this season saw us play on two very challenging pitches, which were both large and on a slope.
Having a very good urn out both of our teams had enough for 6 a side and 3 subs, which meant that we could give all of our players a good rest during the match and this showed in the results.
In our first matches Dave’s team played on the gentle sloping pitch, with some good passing play resulting in a 8-0 win, with goals coming from George 4, Harry 2, Jack P and Jack H. Kev’s team playing on hill side pitch also used their subs well to run out 6-2 winners, with goals from Dylan 3 and Toby 3.
The second set of matches delivered much of the same with Dave’s team playing on the hill side pitch and electing to kick up hill first half which resulted in the sides being tied 0-0 at half time. However with the down hill advantage and fresh legs we again managed to score 8 goals with George 3, Jack H 2, Cain, Jack P and Harry getting the goals for Llay. The last goal went to Llangollen, with Cain in goal asking for goal line technology. Kev’s second match again went the way of the first with Llay running out 6-3 winners with goals from Dylan 3, Toby 2 and James, to give us 4 out of 4 wins.
Man of the match went to Dylan and David
|
20th November Ruthin (Home)
After receiving a phone call at 9:30 from Ruthin to say they only had 10 players, we were planning to mix the teams to give everyone a game, but by kick-off time Ruthin had 13 players at the pitch.
Ruthin were a much improved team from last season with a number of tall players coming in to the squad and it showed in the results with Dave’s team going down 0-3 in their first game and Richards team 1-2 with Callum scoring for Llay.
The second game again went to form with Ruthin running out 0-4 winners against Richard’s team. Dave’s team had a much closer game coming from 0-4 down to draw 4-4, with the Llay goals coming from Jack H, Toby 2 and Lewis.
Man of the match went to Lewis and Joe
|
13th November Penycae (Away)
Today it was Kev’s and Richards team to make the trip to Penycae. After observing a minutes silence for remembrance Sunday> the games got under way
Kev’s Team – Their first match was a close affair with good football being played by both teams, the Penycae keeper made some great saves to keep the match level and despite a number of chances Llay could not score and the match finished 0-0. In the second match again the game was very close until Penycae scored two fantastic goals. Llay then went looking for a goal which made us loose our shape and despite battling hard to the end Penycae managed 2 more goals to win the match 4-0. Man of the match was awarded to Sam Wright
Richards Team – The first game was end to end with both teams creating chances, but it was Llay who came out top with four goals from Callum, Jack and Curt. The second game was much closed with both teams defending well with the game finishing 1-1 with Callum scoring the Llay goal. Man of the match was shared by Callum and Jack.
|
6th November Rhos (Home)
A lovely sunny November day, welcomed our visitors Rhos to Alyn Waters for our under 9’s fixture. The pitches were in excellent condition following the rain during the week and everything was set for a great game of football.
Rhos who only have a small squad were struggling for numbers so we agreed to lend them one of our goalkeepers which allowed the games to be played 6 v 6, a big thank you goes to Evan and Peter.
Kev’s team – Our first match was goals galore with Dylan finding his scoring boots again hitting 6 goals in the first match with further goals coming from Toby 3, Sam, James and Peter who played the second half out of goal Rhos did get a consolation goal late in the second half when we turned the ball into our own net to make the final score Llay 12 Rhos 1. In the second match after a magic team talk Rhos looked a different team and could have gone ahead with a number of good chances in the first half. After a goalless first half it was Llay who took the lead through a well taken goal by Toby, this was then followed by a wonder goal from our goal machine Dylan who first controlled the ball with his head on the far touchline and then hit a volley over the keeper to make it 2-0 which is how the match ended. Man of the match went to the goal machine _ Dylan
Dave’s Team – We tried a different formation today and it paid off with a convincing 9 – 0 win with goals coming from four players Lewis 4, Jack H 2, George 2 and Jake P. In our second match we faced Peter in goal and what a game he had in goal with a fine string of saves and it was Rhos who took the lead with a long through ball finding their striker up front to take the lead 1-0. We then drew level just before half time with Geraint giving Peter no chance smashing the ball into the roof of the net for his first goal of the season. The second half we went back to our new formation and it worked with us grabbing 5 goals in the second half with goals from Harry, George 2 and Jack H 2. To win the match 6 – 1, Man of the match went to Geraint
|
30th October Coedpoeth (Away)
second half with goals from George 2, Lewis 1 and Jake H 4, allowing us to win the game 8-3.
In the second game we started off where we left off quickly going 8-0 up in the first 10 minutes with hat tricks from both George and Lewis. With a good lead we were able to change things around on the pitch and were able to try different players in different places. This did slow down the scoring but at the end of the game we won 11-0 with 5 different goal scorers being Lewis 4, George 3, Jack P 2, Dylan and Harry. Man of the match went to Jack H.
Richards team – for the first time this season we managed to win both of our matches, in our first game despite most of the play in the first half we struggled to turn this into goals in the second half we did manage to turn this to our advantage with goals from Ewan, Jordan and Callum to win 3-0
In the second match we got our goal scoring going with four goals coming from Gareth one from Jordan and one for Curt to win the match 6-0. Man of the match went to Gareth.
|
23rd October Marford & Gresford (Away)
Today it was Richard’s and Kev’s teams turn to make the short trip to Gresford.
Richards team, in the first match we were unlucky not to come away with at least a draw with both teams enjoying plenty of the play. Gresford took the lead with a long range shot before adding a second from a set piece. Llay replied with their own long rang goal with Owen scoring from the half way line. Despite a lot of Llay pressure in the last few minutes of the match Gresford hung on for a 2-1 win. The second game was much more of a battle with a lot of firm challenges going in Ewan grabbed us a goal heading home after a good cross from Owen, but it was not enough with Gresford running out 4-1 winners.
Man of the match went to Cullum
Kev’s team – In the first match we fell behind from an early goal, but we regained our shape and with a great defensive show from George, James and Peter in goal we managed to get ourselves back into the match with a goal from Toby, however while we were still celebrating Gresford to go 2-1 up. The second half saw chances at both ends but once again it was Gresford who scored from a long throw to win 3-1. The second match saw us take an early lead with a wonder strike from Toby who was having a hard time from his school mates and this is how it stayed until 90 seconds into injury time when Gresford broke away to score an equaliser, to make it 1-1. Man of the match went to Toby
|
16th October Borras PA (Home)
Firstly a big thank you to Borras for bringing three teams to Alun Waters which allowed us to play all of our players.
Kev’s team – Despite plenty of chances the team struggle to turn all of the pressure into goals and in the first two matches it was Borras who made the most of their chances in front of goal winning 0-3 and 1-3 with Toby grabbing the Llay goal. In the third match we managed to get our goal scoring going and were unlucky not to win the match with Dylan scoring 2, however the game ended 2-2. Man of the match went to Jack Williams
Richard’s Team – Again we struggled to find the net in our three matches, which were all close affairs with the matches finishing 0-1, 0-1 and 0-0. Joe in goal and Ben / Owen were outstanding in defence which showed in the close score lines but man of the match for all of his hard work went to Ewan
Dave’s team – Our first match was a close game with Borras taking the lead only for Jack Parry and Lewis to score either side of half time to give us a 2-1 win. Our second match saw us run our 7-0 winners with goals from George 2, Lewis 2, Harry, Jake and Jack Parry. Our last match was a lot closer than the 4-0 score line suggests thanks to some great goalkeeping from Jake Fox who saved four certain goals, the Llay goal scorers were Harry 2, Jack Parry and Jack H. Anyone of our players could have won man of the match but in the end it was shared by Lewis who put in a much improved performance and Jake for his goal keeping in the last match
|
9th OctoberGardenVillage (Away)
What a difference a week makes high winds and a poor pitch made a passing game very difficult, but the lads did well to come away with four wins.
Dave’s Team – Our first match we played well with the three J’s coming away with the goals, Jack P 2, Jack H 1 and Jake 2. In our second game, we struggled to get going despite a number of good chances in front of goal. However, at half time it was still 0-0. In the second half we changed our tactics to add a bit more pace into our play and it paid off with 5 goals from Jack P 2, Lewis 2 and Jack H. Man of the match Jack H
Kev’s Team – Kev’s team got off to a winning start with two good wins. In their first match they won 3-0 with Toby getting 2 and Nathan 1. The second match was much the same with Llay running out 6-0 winners with goals from Dylan 3, Toby 1, Cain 1 and Sam 1. Man of the match went to Nathan
|
2nd October Chirk (home)
With temperatures close to 25C, we welcomed Chirk down to Alyn Waters
Dave Team – Our first match was a very close fought mach with the ply switching end to end and Chrik were unlucky to not get a draw. But we managed to get the win with some good saves from Dylan in goal, the Llay scores were Curt 1, Lewis 1 and Jack Parry 2. Our second game we got our passing going and ran out 6-1 winners with goals from George 3, Jake parry 2 and Lewis 1. – Man of the Match George
Richards Team – Made a great start winning their first game 4-2 with goals from Owen, Tom, Jordan and Gareth. The second game was a lot closer and a few defensive errors allowed Chirk in who made sure of their shots to bag 3 goals and go on to win 3-0 – Man of the Match – Ben
|
25th September Cefn United (Away)
It was the turn on Kev’s and Richards team to travel to Cefn on what has to be one of the best playing surfaces in the League.
In Richards first match Llay took a 3-0 lead wit goals from Ewan 2 and Tom. The second half was a different match with Cefn pulling back 3 goals to finish 3-3. There second match was a very tough match with both teams getting stuck in with Cefn taking an early lead only for Owen to pull Llay level which was enough for Llay to secure a 1-1 draw. Man of the Match Owen
Kev’s team – despite a lot of good passing and a number of shots on Target we could not find the back of the net and as we pushed we got caught on the break a number of times. In the end we did manage to find the net with a goal from Toby but it was to late and we lost 1-4. The second match there was a change of Goalkeeper with Dylan taking over from Evan in goal and pulling of a number of good saves, however the barrage at the goal was to much with Cefn scoring 7. The one bright moment of the match was James 20 screamer that flew into the top corner. Man of the match went to Dylan Adams

Sunday 18th September – Brymbo (Home)
Our first game of the season was against a strong Brymbo side, which saw Kev's and Dave's team represent Llay
Dave Team - In our first match we fell behind to an early goal, before Jack Parry scored to bring the scores level at half time, the second half was another close affair with both keepers making good saves. In the end Llay managed to edge the match with a second goal from Jack Parry.
The second match was again a hard fought match, with their keeper making a number of good saves as well as having numerous shots at the Llay goal from goal kicks. Llay managed to edge the second half with a goal from Harry and managed to hold on to the lead to secure the victory. The team looked a lot better today holding a better shape with an improved work rate from everyone.
Man of the Match - Jack Parry
Kev's Team - The first match was a very tight affair with chances at both ends, despite lots of good procession Llay could not take their chances in front of goal and it was Brymbo who took the lead, which they managed to hang on to. The second match was more of a one way affair with Brymbo making the most of their chances putting away 7 goals.
Man of the Match - Evan

Sunday 11th September – Brickfield (Away)
The new season kicked off with an away trip to Brickfield, who kindly let us take three teams down which allowed us to play all of our players. With a few changes to the teams from last season to allow for the increase to 6 a side it did take a couple of teams the first game to get use to the new set-up.
Dave’s team – In our first match we looked we played a very good Brickfield side going down 0-4. We did create a lot of chances in front of goal but good goalkeeping and some rushed shots meant that we were unable to score. In our second match we looked more like a team winning the match 2-0 with goals from Lewis and Harry, Man of the match went to Dylan
Richards team – In their first match despite plenty of chances at both ends the match finished 0-0, in the second match the team battled really well and were unlucky to find themselves 1-0 down. Then a good solo run and finish saw Gareth score an excellent goal to bring it back to 1-1. However within a minute Brickfield took a 2-1 lead, Llay then had a goal from a free kick disallowed as it had gone directly into the net with the game finishing 1-2. Man of the match went to Joe
Kev’s team – Again it took a little time for the team to settle down going down 0-4 in their first game. In the second match the team started to play together winning the match 3-1 with goals from Toby 2 and a thunderbolt shot from James. Man of the match for some great defending went to James

|
8th May - Ruthin (Away)
It was all change with the holidays and Andy and Richard not available, myself and Kevin took over the coaching and the teams did not let us down. Due to players being away we drafted in a couple of players to help out.
Kevins Team - In the first match we raced off to a 6-0 win with goals coming from Callum 3, Toby 2 and Ewan. In our second match we again came out winners 3-1 with our goal scorers Toby 2 and Jack 1.
Dave's team - In our first match we did everything but score, with Ruthin penned in to there own half for all of the match. The Ruthin goal keeper made save after save, with our only goal coming from a long range shot from James for a 1-0 win
In our second match we did not have it all our own way with Dylan in goal pulling off some good saves, we managed to score a goal in each half from James and Curt to secure 2-0 win
Man of the Match - Callum / Curt
|
20th March - Garden Village (Home)
After a number of away games we returned to our home pitch at LlaySchool and also returned to winning ways
GardenVillage were struggling for players and only managed eight players on the day so we played 4 v 4 which put us as a bit of a disadvantage due to the number of substitutions, we had to make and this had an effect on our results
Richard's Team - In our first match we narrowly lost 2-1 with our goal coming from Ewan, in our second match we turned the tables with a 4-1 win with our goals coming from Owen 2, Ewan and Cain
Goal Scorers - Owen 2, Ewan 2, Cain
Andy's Tem - In our first match we ran out 5-1 winners with all five goals coming from Elliot, in our second game Garden village came out 3-1 winners with our goal coming from Gaz
Goal Scorers - Elliot 5, Gareth
Man of the match - Warren / Elliot
|
20th March - Llangollen (Away)
Our first way match for a number of weeks saw us travel to Llangollen, due to their under 9's team also being at home there was a late switch of venues, we also had to use PUG goals which did reduce our chances to score
Jason's Team - In our first match we dominated most of the match with Llangollen restricted to a few break away chances running out 5-0 with our gaols coming from Harry 3 and George 2.Our second match was saw Llangollen have more of the game but again we managed to win 3-0 with our goals coming from Harry 2 and George
Goal Scorers - Harry 5, George 3
Dave's Team - In our first match we made most of the playand were unlucky on a number of occasions with the ball just going over or wide, the game ended 3-0 with Ben 2 and Toby 1. Our second match saw us again have most of the play and we started to pass the ball around, this was a high scoring game with all five of our players scoring Toby 5, Ben 2, James, Jake and Dylan A, but credit has to go to Llangollen who continued to battle right to the end of the game.
Goal Scorers - Toby 6, Ben 4, James, Jake and Dylan A
Man of the Match - Harry / Ben
|
6th March - Cefn (Away)
We went to Cefn missing a number of our regular player starting with only one substitute between the two teams, which made it hard against a full strength Cefn side.

After three weeks off, we were back in action at home welcoming our visitors Ruthin to LlaySchool field. We picked up where we finished in January with four wins out of four.
Dave’s team – in our first game we went 3–0 up in the first half with goals, however with a change a goal keeper in the Ruthin goal we were unable to extend this lead in the in the second half due to a string of excellent saves. Man of the match – Dylan Adams / Lewis
|
20th February - Brymbo (Away)
In our other fixture of the day we travelled to a very cold Cheshire View in Brymbo, unfortunately we only 11 players turned up which made it very difficult with only 1 substitute between the two teams against a large Brymbo squad.
There were goals galore in the four matches with 46 goals being scored in the four games.
Richards team – In our first match; we did no get going loosing 10-1 with Callum scoring our only goal. In our second game, we turned things around with a 7-3 win with goals from Ewan 5, Owen 2 and Callum 1.
Andy’s team – With no subs to help, we managed to score 3 goals in our first game with Gareth getting 2 and Elliot the other with Brymbo replying with 7. In our second game we managed to score 4 goals with Gareth getting all 4, however we again could not secure the win with Brymbo hitting 8 in reply.
Man of the match - Ewan, Eliott
|
6th February - Marford and Gresford (Home)
High winds made football difficult for both teams, with all matches being games of two halfs with the wind blowing down the pitch macking it very dificult for the goalkeepers. Richard was away on a course so I steped in to run the team and I might have upset the team with the formation that I play, but by the second game we started to work together s a team and were unluky to go down 0-1. With Jack having a brilliant game in goal making 8 good saves and winning man of the match.
Andy's team did a little better after a slow start in their first game they managing to draw their second match 1-1 with Gareth scoring our goal. Once again it was the goal keeper who kept us in the game, with Joe winning man of the match for his goal keeping in the second game
Man of the match - Joe and Jack
|

Andy 0-3, 3-5 - Elliot, Peter, Curt
|

Due to Kinnerton only having enough players for two teams, we decided to just bring two teams. Giving the teams who only played 2 games aginst Cefn the chance to play. Hopfully the league will be able to sort out our new fixtures in time for the next fixture dates.
